WICHITA – Aug. 10 is National S’mores Day, and Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland invites the public to a free celebration of this famous Girl Scout tradition and to roast their own delicious s’more.
Families can enjoy free s’mores and hot dogs for National S’mores Day from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10 at the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland’s Wichita office, 360 Lexington Rd. Council staff will be at both the Hays and Wichita events to help girls sign up or renew for Girl Scouts and speak with those interested in making a difference in their community through a variety of volunteer opportunities.
National S'mores Day Events:
Thank you to Blue Anthem for sponsoring the activities and Cargill for sponsoring the food for this event.
Did you know the delicious marshmallow, chocolatey, graham-cracker treat is rooted in Girl Scout history? The recipe for a s’more dates back to a 1925 Girl Scout Leader magazine and a 1927 Girl Scouts of the USA handbook, “Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts,” which featured a “Some More” recipe.
It’s never been a better time to discover Girl Scouts. For more information, go to kansasgirlscouts.org, call 888-686-MINT (6468), or email info@gskh.org.
