Travel and Destinations
Girl Scouts love to travel — from the field trips they take as Brownies to the global adventures they go on as teens. If you love exploring different places and cultures, then Girl Scouts is the place for you.
Girl Scout Destinations are the ultimate adventure for individual girls ages 11 and older. With new opportunities every year, there is something amazing for everyone to experience. Make friends from all over the country as you travel with Girl Scouts from different states, see and learn new things and pack your bags full of inspiring, life-changing experiences and memories.
Girls who apply for a Girl Scout Destination are also eligible to apply for our Sandy Remsberg Destination Scholarship.

In addition to regularly scheduled troop meetings, troops or groups of Girl Scouts often plan trips together — anything from a local day trip to an international adventure! Girls and adults work together to plan, budget and arrange trip details according to the guidelines and requirements for travel.
There are several great resources to help volunteers and Girl Scouts plan a successful travel experience.
Note: International Travel must be planned through one of our approved vendors.
All overnights from backyard camping through international require approval. Use the Travel Checklist to keep things organized while you prepare and submit your Travel Application.

Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland hosts one troop that is specific to traveling.
Past trips include Thailand and Puerto Rico, as well as local destinations. While in Puerto Rico, they went snorkeling, visited a coffee plantation, learned to dance the Salsa and much more. On their last day, they met a local, multi-level troop. Due to the hurricane, the Puerto Rican Troop 204 had been unable to participate in cookie sales, so Troop 47457 brought them a gift of Girl Scout cookies!

Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland and Girl Scouts of the USA maintain partnerships with several travel companies to offer discounts and Girl Scout programming.
Girl Scout members get FREE access to basic/primitive campsites at 26 Kansas State Parks, thanks to the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland’s partnership with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism.
Volunteers should contact the State Park to set up a service project during their visit and complete a reservation with them directly. Some parks discount the group campsite or basic primitive site fees; others waive or discount vehicle fees. Provide your receipt along with your Travel Application and eligible campsite fees will be reimbursed by GSKH. Fees for vehicles or premium features such as electric or water hookup, cabins, or activities are not eligible for reimbursement.
Visit the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism to see locations for all 26 state parks. Click on the map to see amenities available and other information about each state park.
International Travel must be planned through one of our approved travel vendors. While EF Tours is traditionally most popular in our council, each partner offers different destination options and resources for volunteers.
International Travel: You should book international travel with approved vendors prior to completing your Travel Application, which often takes place 1-2 years prior to travel. Submit the Travel Application soon after and include as many details as possible, including copies of the vendor’s resources about the trip such as cost, basic itinerary or promotional materials. Six months prior to the trip, update details and include the specific itinerary with transportation and accommodations.
