The next Girl Scout membership year runs from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. Annual membership dues are $65 for girl members and $30 for adult members. Additional local fees and discounts may apply. Financial aid may be available. Girl Scout memberships must be renewed annually.

What is Girl Scouts?
Girl Scouts is more than an activity—it’s a national youth organization dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Why do girls love being Girl Scouts?
Girl Scouts helps girls develop confidence by trying new things and overcoming challenges. In addition to learning about STEM, outdoor skills, entrepreneurship, and more, Girl Scouts also discover ways to strengthen their families and communities, making them kinder and better for everyone. Girls can truly be themselves at Girl Scouts and find a sense of belonging.

How does it work?
Groups of Girl Scouts, called troops, typically meet weekly or every other week for an hour or two. Guided by adult volunteers, troop members choose hands-on activities and projects that excite them, try new things, and cheer each other on. Together, they earn badges to celebrate their successes and show the world what they’re made of. Girl Scouts can also participate in shorter program series, local events and camp, and on their own as an Individually Registered Member (IRM), also known as a Juliette. Individually Registered Members can earn badges and more based on their own schedule and interests.

Joining as a Juliette is great for Girl Scouts without a troop available nearby or who want to enjoy Girl Scout programming with their family. They can get started right away by earning badges independently or attending events to meet other Girl Scouts in their area.

What’s the goal?
When girls are able to truly be themselves, they shine brightly, form authentic friendships, and can use their unique powers to make the world a better place.

Who can join?
Girls in grades K–12 can join Girl Scouts. Adults who are 18 or older can join as members or volunteers after passing a background screening.

How can I get started?
When you're ready, you can join Girl Scouts at any time. The Girl Scout membership year runs from October 1 to September 30. Annual membership dues are $65 for girl members and $30 for adult members—plus any applicable council fees. A Girl Scout membership year runs from October 1 through September 30 of the following year, but you can join or renew early in April each year. Get started today.

When can I get started?
If your girl is ready to let her best self shine and start creating the world she wants to see, she’s ready to be a Girl Scout today. A Girl Scout membership year starts on October 1 and lasts until September 30 of the following year. New girls can join Girl Scouts for $60 and their membership will run clear through September 30, 2026!

What age can my girl join Girl Scouts?
Girls can join when they are five-years-old and in kindergarten. Girl Scouts can join at any age between kindergarten and 12th grade.

What are the costs?
The annual membership dues are $60 and membership lasts through September 30, 2026. There may be additional fees depending what your troop or girl decides to participate in. For example: troop dues, uniforms, camps and events. Depending on the camp, event or activity, prices can range from $5 for something like a movie night to $200+ for a week-long camp or out-of-area excursion! For troop uniforms and events, additional funds can be requested through our Council Cares application and our Campership application.

However, most additional expenses can be paid for with the funds your girl earns during the Product Program sales. Financial assistance is also available for memberships to those who qualify.

*Purchase of a membership is non-refundable and non-transferable. Non-transferable refers to memberships being unable to transfer from person-to-person. Memberships can transfer to a different Girl Scout council if necessary.
