Gold Award Girl Scout Designs Wild Bee Habitats
Wichita, Kan. — Campbell focused her Girl Scout Gold Award project on protecting wild
Wichita, Kan.bees and educating the community about their importance. Her project, “Wild
Bee Habitats,” addressed the global decline in bee populations, which threatens
pollination and food production. By raising awareness, Campbell encouraged
people to take simple actions to support these vital pollinators.
Campbell created presentations and hands-on demonstrations teaching people
—Campbell focused her Girl Scout Gold Award project on protecting wildhow to build mason bee habitats. She led workshops with elementary school
students, adults in her church, and members of the community. In total, she
taught more than 100 participants how to construct bee habitats while sharing
ways to reduce pesticide use and protect bee habitats.
To extend the project’s impact, Campbell created an instructional video and
shared it online so others could learn how to build bee habitats and help pollinators
in their own communities. She also taught international students studying in
Wichita, allowing the project’s impact to spread beyond the local community.
In recognition of her outstanding work, Campbell was the 2025 recipient of the
$5,000 Girl Scouts of the USA National Gold Award Scholarship.
