Saturday, Aug. 10 is National S’mores Day, and the public is invited to celebrate by making their own tasty s'mores with Girl Scouts during FREE events in Wichita, Emporia, Garden City, Hays and Salina! During these come and go events, families will enjoy hot dogs, fun activities, and discover how Girl Scouts helps unleash the inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, and Leader) in every girl.
Council staff will be at the event to help girls sign up or renew for Girl Scouts and speak with those interested in making a difference through a variety of volunteer opportunities. With more outdoor adventures and leadership opportunities than ever before, it's a great time to be a Girl Scout! For more information, call 888-686-MINT (6468) or email email@example.com.
S'more Fun Fact
S'mores have long been a staple around the campfire, but did you know this delicious treat is rooted in Girl Scout history? That's right! The recipe for a s'more dates back to the 1925 Girl Scout Leader magazine and the 1927 Girl Scouts of the USA handbook, “Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts,” which featured a "Some More" recipe.
