Volunteer Criminal Background Checks

We appreciate your interest in volunteering with the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland. Girl Scouting would not be the strong program it is today without the dedicated work of adult volunteers who are not only mentors to Girl Scouts, but also their friends and biggest supporters.

The Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland is committed to providing a safe and quality program for girls as they participate in Girl Scouting. That is why every leader should become familiar with and practice the guidelines listed in our "Safety-Wise" booklet.

It is becoming a standard practice for youth-serving agencies to conduct background checks on their volunteers, and Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland, Inc. (GSKH) has joined with Girl Scouts of the USA to develop a system for conducting criminal background checks on all paid staff and volunteers in the following positions:
• All regular and seasonal employees
• Any volunteer who has or may have care, custody, and control of girls, (leaders, assistant leaders, and troop committee members)
• Other volunteers as deemed appropriate

We recognize that the confidentiality and security of personal information is a high priority. Volunteers are asked to provide their Social Security Number and date of birth to IntelliCorp via a secure Internet page for a criminal background check. IntelliCorp, a premiere provider of background and employment/volunteer screening and used nationwide, ensures complete privacy of all solicited information. Your information will be seen and used only by IntelliCorp and only to complete a background check; this information is not shared with any other person or organization.
