Salina’s Camp Old Navy: Fun, Fashionable, Fantastic! PDF Print E-mail

In July, 13 girls from Salina’s Girl Scouts Outreach program and The City's Excel program participated in a fun-filled day at Old Navy at the Salina Mall.  The girls were introduced to all aspects of managing and operating the Old Navy store.  They learned about setting goals, interviewing, shipping, using the register, and the store layout.

Birger Sandz'en Educational Portfolio Available for Troops PDF Print E-mail
Looking for a new, unique way to introduce the rich history of Kansas art to your girls? The Birger Sandzén Memorial Art Gallery in Lindsborg has put together an educational portfolio that is available for loan completely free of charge. 

The portfolio is comprised of a portable carrying case of interesting papers, prints, and other materials about Birger Sandzén. Sandzén was a Swedish immigrant that settled in the Smoky Valley of Kansas in 1894 to teach art at Bethany College, and who later became a world renowned artist. The teaching packet contains basic art education information in addition to the Sandzén background.

Abilene Girls Honor Soldiers with Quilts of Valor Project PDF Print E-mail

In similar fashion as during WWII when women on the homefront made quilts and blankets for soldiers fighting for our country abroad, Girl Scouts in Abilene have put in considerable time and dedication to their Quilts of Valor projects.  The girls hand-colored and cut many of the pieces of their quilts, which are on display at the Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene.

The quilts will be distributed at several VA hospitals and veterans organizations.

A warm thanks to all who attended the Open House and Ribbon Cutting for the Salina Regional Office on June 10th.  Also, congratulations to Clare Williams and Ericka Werling, both of Salina, for winning a Girl Scout Cookie Basket in our give-away drawing! Each lucky lady will recieve a lovely basket filled with Girl Scout Cookies, an Alumni & Friends S'more Recipes cookbook and a Juliette Gordon Low doll.

Troop 20945 Bridging Ceremony Honors 4 Girls PDF Print E-mail

On Saturday, May 22nd, troop leaders Terri Mattison and Lois Archer honored 4 Daisies with a Bridging ceremony at Jerry Ivey Park.  The Bridging ceremony kicked off with a flag ceremony and then each of the 1st graders were pinned with their Brownie pin.  Despite a very windy day at the park, the ceremony was attended by many family and friends to congratulate the girls on their promotion to Brownies in the upcoming year.

Salina Girl Earns Silver Award PDF Print E-mail

The Silver Award is an outstanding achievement and the highest award possible for Girl Scouts ages 11-13.  Shelbey focused her Silver Award project on creating reusable shopping bags for friends and family.

Marquette Girl Scouts Help Children Through the Highway Patrol PDF Print E-mail

Marquette Girl Scouts collected stuffed animals as a service project at the end of the year ceremony on April 18, 2010. These animals will go to area Highway Patrol cars to help children in need of comfort. Pictured with Marquette Girl Scouts are Trooper Gardener and Officer Elvin.
