Eureka Area Day Camp PDF Print E-mail
Eureka Area Girl Scouts held their annual Girl Scout Day Camp. The theme this year was "Into the Wild." The girls had a busy weekend a few of the things that kept them busy were: cooking over the camp fire, putting up tents and making a tie pillow. They also enjoyed having Kim Jones, Kansas Wildlife and Parks Manager, come to visit the camp. She told them about and showed them furs from different animals we have in our state.

30050_silver_web

The Emporia Region is proud to announce that we have three young women who have very recently earned their Silver Award! Caite, Ariel, and Samantha geared their project toward raising awareness of malnourished and needy animals existing in their community. They contacted the Buck Fund and Emporia Animal Shelter and joined forces with them to help several dogs and cats in Emporia find new homes through an adoption event at the Flinthills Mall in March. The girls also set up craft tables at the event where people could make Happy Socks and Rope Chew toys for the animals at the Buck Fund and the shelter. Way to go girls!
