Halloween is a fun time for Girl Scouts to enjoy the different events and activities that are planned around the holiday. The Macksville Girl Scouts decided they would take the opportunity to help out a family in their community who had recently lost all of their possessions in a house fire by selling pumpkins at a home high school football game and donating the money to the family so that they could replace some of the items they had lost.
Their generosity is just one of the many examples of how these girls, (Daisies through Juniors) their leader, Rita Stimatze, and volunteers live the Girl Scout mission of making the world a better place.
Frequent good deed doers in their community, these girls are always doing some kind of community service and they are well represented in their area. They are involved in a recycling project, where they have a container behind the scout house for aluminum cans and the community fills it up for them.
"They really rake in the dough during our Aluminum Can Round-up in April," Rita said.
By engaging in community service projects that help others, these Girl Scouts demonstrate the organization's timeless values of courage, confidence, and character.
