Summer camp at Camp Hazen was hot, relaxing and fun!
Forty two Girl Scouts from Ashland, Coats, Dodge City, Hutchinson, McPherson, Pretty Prairie, South Hutchinson and Wichita, ranging from Daisies to Cadettes came together to take part in the camping experience.
Twelve adults volunteered to make the experience one to remember for the girls. The girls were able to work on badges, go hiking, cook meals, make crafts, and cool off in the water. They also connected with their fellow Girl Scouts by participating in team-building activities and games and they built a fire at campfire hill where they made S'mores and sang songs with their new friends.
Girl Scout camp combines the fun of summer camp with the leadership development of Girl Scouts. In a fun, supportive environment girls learn to work together as a team, make decisions, and take responsibility for their actions. Through a wide variety of activities to fit their interests, girls develop creative abilities, build independence and self-reliance, learn new skills, and gain confidence. Girl Scout camp provides the structure for girls to create their own experiences, reflect on them, and apply what they learn to new challenges.
