GrAtlanta17_070244

Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland is thankful to have an amazing volunteer base of women and men who offer their time and talents to support the mission of our organization. We are currently seeking new members for existing volunteer committees and forming new volunteer advisory committees to further our mission. Current volunteers, former volunteers, parents, and interested community members are invited to apply for a position on the committees described below. Additionally, we want to hear the voices of our girl members and increase opportunities for girl-led planning at the council level. Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts are invited to apply for a position on the Girl Advisory Committee.

Volunteer Advisory Committee for Program:  Two-year term

New and experienced troop leaders are needed to advise the Program team on topics such as Higher Awards, program desires, summer camp, and improving the overall girl experience in all things Girl Scouts.  The committee will meet quarterly via video conference year-round.

Volunteer Advisory Committee for Troop Experience: Two-year term

New and experienced troop leaders are needed to advise the Volunteer Support team in projects such as updating training curriculum, making changes to the Honor Troop program, and improving the resources available for troop volunteers.  The committee will meet monthly or bi-monthly via video conference year-round and in person June 8-10.

Volunteer Advisory Committee for Product Sales: Two-year term

This committee consists of volunteers and parents that will come together once a year with vendors and staff to discuss next season’s product lineup, girl rewards and online systems, and provide feedback towards council processes.  The committee will meet yearly in person.

Volunteer Advisory Committee for Recruitment: Two-year term

Do you think of creative ways to recruit new girls and volunteers? Do you love talking to people about how amazing Girl Scouts is and how it has made an impact in the life of you or others around you?  If you answered yes to either of these questions then we are looking for YOU!  Join our Recruitment Committee, and help us spread the word about how amazing Girl Scouts is!  The committee will meet quarterly via video conference year-round and in person in the spring.

Gold Award and Silver Award Committees:

These groups of dedicated volunteers mentor girls through the Higher Awards process, providing feedback on project proposals, brainstorming challenges that girls may face throughout the project, and ultimately approving or denying the award application.   These committees meet monthly throughout the school year.

Volunteer Award Committee:  Two- or three-year term

This short-term volunteer role is an essential part of honoring volunteers who go above and beyond to serve the girl members of our council.  Regional committees meet yearly in February to review and approve nominations for the awards that will be presented at Annual Meeting.

Board Development Committee: Three-year term

Responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, and recruiting individuals to serve on the Board of Directors to provide a single slate of candidates to the membership for election.  Meetings are set by the members as needed to fulfill the duties of the committee.

Girl Advisory Committee:

We are excited to hear more about what girls want to do as a Girl Scout.  Please encourage your Cadette and older girls to join this committee and share what they aspire to do through their scouting time.  The committee will meet quarterly via video conference year-round.
