Derby Girl Scouts plant tree for World Thinking Day

Derby Girl Scouts - web

To celebrate this year's World Thinking Day theme, "Grow," Derby Troop 40439 took action to honor their Girl Scout sisters and also give back to their community and the world!

Daisy Girl Scouts in Troop 40439 donated and planted a tree on Saturday, Feb. 18 in Derby’s Triangle Park. According to Troop Leader Misty Roper, the girls circled around the tree they named “Daisy” and sang the age-old Girl Scout song, “Make New Friends.” (Daisy was also the nickname of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts.)

The girls earned their World Thinking Day badge for honoring their Girl Scout sisters and taking action to make a difference! Celebrated on Feb. 22 each year, World Thinking Day is a special day in the Girl Scout year to celebrate the global Girl Scout sisterhood.
