McPherson Girl Scout Troop 50220 knows how much fun competing in a cook-off can be when your Girl Scout sisters are by your side! The girls had fun participating in the Burnin’ Down Main Chili Cook-Off this weekend in McPherson, and they earned three prizes recognizing both their cooking skills and their community spirit.
Troop 50220, along with a sister Juliette Girl Scout, teamed up to make three roasters full of Taco Fiesta Soup for the chili cook-off. They made decorations for their booth and also borrowed décor from friends.
For the second year in a row, the girls took home first place in the dessert category for their Apple Pie cookies. They won first place in Overall Spirit, also for the second year in a row. Their Taco Fiesta soup earned them the second-place prize. Last year, Troop 50220 took first place for their cheeseburger soup.
"These ladies went up against adults,” Troop Leader Elizabeth Newby said. “I am so proud of these ladies. They did very well."
