What did you do this year? Did you paint a picture, make a snack,
serve your community, or grow something in the garden, perhaps? Or
maybe you created a masterpiece out of Legos! Don't forget to save
your projects, so you can submit them to the Kansas State Fair to
compete for a ribbon and even a cash reward.
The state fair has competitive categories just for Girl Scouts to participate in, and girls can submit projects they completed in Girl Scouts, school, or at home! Categories include artwork, jewelry, baking, First Aid kits, woodworking, comic strips, knitting, photography, computer graphics, mosaics, candles, scrapbooking, and more! Every year, Girl Scouts from across the state submit their projects to the Kansas State Fair. These projects, which will be on display in the Girl Scout cabin at the fair, showcase a multitude of talents, service and leadership exhibited by Kansas Girl Scouts.
"The Kansas State Fair is highly interested in the Scout movement in the State of Kansas, and urges all girls of Scout age (5 to 18) to become members and thereby be eligible to compete for premiums offered in this department," according to the state fair's website.
Entry forms submitted online or by mail are due Aug. 15; entry forms submitted to the fair in-person are accepted through Aug. 30. Projects must then be delivered Sept. 4 - 6 to the fair, where they will be judged and put on display for the 2017 Kansas State Fair. Go to the Kansas State Fair's website for complete details.
