For the past few years, Dalyn McFee has been helping the American Legion hang up flags for Memorial Day. But after noticing the need for repairs at the Fairview Cemetery in Atwood, she took action and completed a project that has now earned her the Silver Award, the highest award a Girl Scout Cadette can earn.
Dalyn noticed the wear on the flag poles and ropes at the cemetery and decided to help with repairs, including painting the flag poles, replacing the ropes and clips, and painting the iron fence.
Her Silver Award project included 50 hours of community service, along with approval from the Atwood township. She also got support from the American Legion and Lions Club.
Way to go, Dalyn!
